PADDLING DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

ORGANIZATION

Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan (CKS) is the provincial sport governing body for the sport of canoe-kayak in the province. CKS promotes participation in canoe-kayak sports and advances excellence through development, funding and support for athletes; coaches; officials; and volunteers in Saskatchewan.

DESCRIPTION

The focus of the Paddling Development Director (PDD) is to support paddling development in Saskatchewan along the full LTAD spectrum. The PDD is tasked with expanding and cultivating partnerships through creative and innovative programming to expose and recruit new paddlers into the CKS community. The PDD is committed to operating within a safe environment where paddlers learn water safety, paddling skills, and teamwork while discovering the importance of paddling to Canadian culture and history.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary degree – preferably in kinesiology, sport, culture or recreation administration (or relevant discipline) – or a strong combination of relevant training and experience;

• Minimum of three years’ experience working in the sport of canoe-kayak at the club, provincial, and/or regional level;

• NCCP ELCC Marathon, Sprint and/or Whitewater certified;

• Paddle Canada certification (canoeing basic skills, lake canoe skills introduction tandem);

• It’s an asset, but not required to be a Coach Developer at the Canoe Kids &/or ELCC level;

Experience with computer software and data collection;

• Successful applicants will need to provide: o Criminal record and vulnerable sector check, current within 6 months

o NCCP number

o Respect in Sport certification number

o Current CPR and First Aid

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• This is a full time, salaried, position;

• The paddling development director can be based out of any major center in Saskatchewan, reporting to the CKS Executive Director;

• The paddling development director must be available to work flexible work hours including weekends and evenings, particularly in the spring and summer months;

• Travel is required at the local, and provincial level;

• Must have access to a personal vehicle;

REMUNERATION

• Remuneration will commensurate with experience.
