We have booked the Blackstone Group campsite, which is on the river (just off the Chungo Creek Road) and divides the upper run from the two lower runs so there is a variety of paddling options. The group site has a big cook shelter, fire pit, picnic tables and toilets but otherwise is off the grid. The upper run of approx. 2 hours is a thrilling paddle thru a narrow canyon with constant 90 degree turns. The run from the group site to the trunk road (3 hours; 17 kms) is more open and adds in some ledges, while the run from the trunk road to the gas plant (25kms) has more standing waves. |
