Team Canada wrapped up an outstanding week of racing at the 2025 ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, bringing home multiple medals, countless top-five finishes, and a wave of momentum for the next generation of Canadian paddlers.
One of the standout performers of the event was Isabel Lowry, who claimed an incredible three gold medals in the C1 Junior Women 200m, C2 Junior Women 200m (with Amélie Laliberté), and C4 Junior Women 500m (with Laliberté, Grace Theunissen, and Madeliene Beauregard).
Laliberté added another gold to her tally in the C4 500m, finishing the week with two golds of her own, while Tate Levy raced to a well-earned bronze medal.
In U23 action, Toshka Besharah delivered a powerful performance in the K1 Women 200m to capture anther gold for Team Canada.
Beyond the podium, Team Canada delivered a series of hard-fought performances, landing several top-five finishes and advancing deep into A and B finals across multiple events.
Despite tricky wind and weather conditions throughout the week, Canadian athletes showed incredible resilience, poise, and determination.
