OTTAWA, ON (January 14, 2026) – Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Morgan Wren as National Team Operations Manager.

Morgan brings more than a decade of experience in Canadian sport as an athlete, coach, administrator, and senior operations leader. With extensive expertise in event delivery, high-performance logistics, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership, Morgan will play a key role in supporting CKC’s national team programs and creating optimal performance environments for athletes and coaches.

“Morgan brings an exceptional combination of high-performance operations expertise, major event experience, and a deep understanding of the Canadian paddling system,” said Ian Mortimer, Chief Technical Officer at Canoe Kayak Canada. “Her leadership, attention to detail, and collaborative approach will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”

Morgan joins CKC from Golf Nova Scotia, where she served as Technical Director, leading provincial programming from grassroots participation through to high-performance pathways, overseeing major events, and aligning technical initiatives with national and provincial partners. Previously, she worked with the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation as a Social Responsibility Officer, supporting and collaborating with provincial sport organizations through the Support4Sport program.

Morgan also brings significant international paddling event experience to the role. As Operations Lead for Canoe ’22, the ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Dartmouth, she was responsible for complex logistics including accommodations, transportation, accreditation, technology, volunteer coordination, and international athlete services. She has also worked extensively in water safety and event operations and served as Director at Large on the Atlantic Division of Canoe Kayak Canada Board, further strengthening her understanding of CKC’s system and community.

“Paddling has played an important role in shaping my career, and I’m honoured to step into this role supporting Canoe Kayak Canada’s National Team,” said Morgan Wren. “This is an opportunity I’ve long worked toward, and I’m excited to work closely with the athletes, coaches, and staff.”

Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Morgan is closely connected to the Atlantic paddling community and one of CKC’s National Training Centres and will support national team activities across all training camps and domestic and international events.

Canoe Kayak Canada is excited to officially welcome Morgan to the team on January 19th and looks forward to her contributions in strengthening operational excellence and supporting the continued success of Canada’s sprint and paracanoe programs on the world stage.
