Team Canada racked up seven medals, including three gold medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint and Para World Cup in Poznan, Poland this weekend.
Katie Vincent, 29, from Mississauga, Ont., and the reigning Olympic champion in the C-1 200m from Paris 2024 led the medal count with a total of 3 podium finishes, including two gold medals in the women’s C1 200m, and C1 500m. Sophia Jensen, from Quebec, Ont., also shared the podium with Vincent in the C1 200m in the bronze position, marking another strong showing for Canada in women’s canoe.
“Two weeks of great racing in the bank and lots to work on for the upcoming World Championships. Now time to head back home.” said Vincent.
Vincent also secured a silver in the C2 500m with rookie teammate from Ottawa, Zoe Wojtyk.
Wojtyk wrapped up her World Cup debut in the C4 500m with teammates Sophia Jensen, Jacy Grant and Sloan Mackenzie standing on the podium in bronze position.
Paralympic silver medalist, Brianna Hennessy brought home some serious hardware, winning gold in the VL2 200m and bronze in the KL1 200m.
Canada ranked 5th in the overall medal standings.
The next stop will be National Team Trials in Montreal at the end of June, followed by the announcement of the World Championship team.
