Marathon – Thames River Classic Race
This race is traditionally the OMCKRA kick off for the new season and features a very technical downstream and back course with lots of twists and turns. The race will take about two hours, then lunch and everybody wins a jar of jam. Racers should expect cold water conditions and should have moving water experience for recreational or pro classes.
If the water is low, use of your toughest paddles and boats is advisable. The start and finish is at the Pemberton Street Bridge in Ingersoll, the intersection of Pemberton Street and Wilson Street. Park on the north side of the river. To get there, take the Hwy 19 exit from 401 and proceed north. Bear right at the Petro Canada Station. You will be on Harris Street, which becomes Pemberton Street.
