OTTAWA, ONTARIO (October 4, 2017) – After Gymnastics Canada and Equestrian Canada, it is time for Canoe Kayak Canada to welcome Emily MacKeigan as the new national team manager.

“I am excited to have Emily join our team. She has National Sport Organization experience in complicated logistics and supporting teams at major games, most recently in Rio” said Graham Barton, Chief Technical Officer at Canoe Kayak Canada. “Her skills will complement a strong staff we are building for Tokyo and beyond. On behalf of Canoe Kayak Canada, I want to welcome Emily to our paddling family!” he added.

MacKeigan completed her studies at the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor in Human Kinetics and a Master’s degree with a concentration in Sport Management. The leadership she has developed over the past few years as an Event Coordinator at Gymnastics Canada and Team Services Coordinator at Equestrian Canada will be a major asset to our organization.

“I am thrilled to join the Canoe Kayak Canada team and look forward to new adventures ahead supporting the national team!” said Emily. “I am very happy to bring some great experience to the position and have the opportunity to learn more about the world of paddling. I am eager to meet the athletes and the entire team at CKC and I have the feeling great things are on the rise for Canoe Kayak Canada as we are leading up to Tokyo,” she added.

Her past experiences include supporting the teams in the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio, as well as in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. MacKeigan will be join Canoe Kayak Canada mid-October.
