On Thursday, March 8, Canoe Kayak Canada Alumni, Karen Furneaux, will launch her book Strong Beauty: Power Up The Champion Within at the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Furneaux, a Sprint Kayak Alumni of Waverley, Nova Scotia, is a two-time World Champion, three-time Olympian and an inductee in the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame. She is a professional speaker and President of I Promise Performance, Inc., a company that offers wellness programming and leadership training.

“I wrote Strong Beauty to help young women hone their own success,” said Furneaux. “I want to inspire them in finding their unique power and their very best!”, she added.

The Olympian’s desire to inspire and guide young women is very strong. Karen Furneaux is also planning on moving this book forward by doing a tour with it: “the more young women I can reach, the better it is! I want to spread the word, share my experiences and make a difference in young women’s lives”.

Strong Beauty is filled with strategy, story and powerful practices. On March 8th, Furneaux will speak about her book alongside Hall of Fame CEO, Bruce Rainnie, who will emcee the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring youth to the launch to meet Furneaux, who was recently named #11 on the Hall of Fame’s list of the Top 15 Nova Scotia athletes of all time.

Books will be sold at the launch for $20 each, with $5 from every sale going to support the Hall of Fame’s Future Hall of Famers education program, for which Furneaux has been a long-time presenter and ambassador. You will also be able to buy Strong Beauty on the CKC Online Store soon!

The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame is located above the box office in the Scotiabank Centre at 1800 Argyle Street, Suite 446.
