Wai Nui Why Not Race 2018

It is the 20th anniversary of the Wai Nui Why Not race, this year being held in picturesque Oakville at the Wai Nui club. Start and finish are at the mouth of 16 Mile Creek just outside Oakville Harbour.
As in the past, and consistent with outrigger culture, this is a Hawaiian-themed event.
After the races lunch, awards and some very cool swag will follow at the Oakville Power Boat Club. Bring your own chairs – there is lots of space on the lawn.
Wai Nui Why Not is the second of the four races in the 2018 Waterway Series. Please let us know if you or your team are registered for the Series and your results will be captured and posted.
Fees include racing, lunch, awards and swag. Lunch only tickets $15 are available. RSVP organizer and pay day of.
Race Information – Boat Classes
All races are 15 km apart from the Kupuna race, which is 5 km.
Note: for OC-6, OC-2, K2 and C2 Leader/Coach must register first and create a name for your team and register yourself. Advise your team participants that they must register under that team name.

Rentals
OC-6s
A limited number OC-6s are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bring your own PFD, hydration system and preferably your own paddle. Limited number of paddles are available from Wai Nui as part of the OC-6 rental.
Schedule:
8:00 – 9:00 am Check In and Registration Note that check in and registration closes at 8:45, no exceptions.
9:00 – 9:30 Greetings, Coaches/Participants Meeting, Hawaiian blessings
9:30 – 10:00 Boats put in on 16 Mile Creek.
10:00 – 15 km Race Start
11:30 – 5 km Kupuna Race
12:30 pm – HAWAIIAN THEME — Lunch, refreshments, awards at the Oakville Power Boat Club, 150 Water Street, easy walking distance and next to the Wai Nui Hale.
