The following awards are voted on by the Masters committee and presented at the CanMas Dinner post races. Nomination process opens prior to CanMas every year.
Russ Dunn Achievement Award
Russ Dunn was the founder of the Canadian Masters Championships (CanMas). He is recognized for his many contributions to the sport since 1948 as an athlete, administrator in several roles, and of course as the founder of CanMas.
Criteria for Nomination
- Nominations for this award should be considered to have had significant impact in the master’s community at their club and/or their Division and/or at the National level.
- They would be considered Builders in master’s development or participation, whether through their career as an athlete, coach, official, administrator, volunteer, or a combination of any or all of those.
- They embody CKC’s values and promote lifelong participation and success at all levels and roles in the sport.
- Clubs may nominate only one candidate.
Annual Female Athlete and Male Athlete of CanMas Awards
To recognize the efforts of 1 Female Athlete and 1 Male athlete during the event.
Criteria for Nomination

- Nominations should be for athletes that will be participating at the 2023 CanMas Championship
- Clubs may nominate one male and one female athlete.
- Nominees embody CKC’s values and promote lifelong participation and success at all levels and roles in the sport.
- Nominations should include the following:
- Discipline (if athlete participates specifically in only one, or if they participate in both)
- When they started
- What type of athlete and/or competitor they are, highlighting CKC values as part of the description where appropriate (maximum 3 bullet points)
- Involvement in the club and/or division (please limit this to 5 key points/contributions maximum)
