Female coaching mentorship opportunity

Purpose

Female coaching candidates are invited to apply for coach mentorship opportunities with Canoe Kayak Canada. The objective of this program is to support the advancement of women canoe kayak coaches. In addition, the program also aims to support the development of the selected coaches’ leadership and technical skills while working closely alongside National Team support staff. Selected coaches will receive NCCP professional development points for participating in this program.

Specifics

Sprint Florida Training Camp (February 1 – March 15):

Two female coaches will be selected to work alongside Mark Granger (Next Gen National Coach) for a 1-week period to support athletes at the National Team training camp based in Melbourne, Florida. Selected coaches will also have the opportunity to observe the Senior National Team Coaching staff in the daily training environment. Coaches should commit to attending a 7-day training block within the Florida training camp. (Dates to be confirmed with the successful applicants)

Slalom Junior World Championships (June 22 – July 12):

One female coach to will be selected to work alongside CKC’s coaching staff to support athletes in the Daily Training and Competition Environment at the Junior World Championships in Tacen, Slovenia. Coaches do not need to commit to attending the full duration of the project.

Eligibility:

Ideal applicants will have three years of coaching experience working with Canoe/Kayak athletes in the daily training environment who are competing at the provincial or national level. Priority will be given to coaches that are competition development trained or certified.

Costs:

CKC will provide onsite accommodations at the respective training camp or competitions. All additional expenses including travel and meals will be the responsibility of the individual coach.

CKC is seeking applications from interested candidates. A criminal record check and completion of the Respect in Sport online training will be mandatory upon acceptance for all selected coach(es).
