VIANA-DO-CASTELO, PORTUGAL (May 25, 2018) – Canadian canoe sprint and marathon athlete Madeline Mitchell (Manitoba) will be representing Canada at the 2018 ICF Marathon World Cup. The international competition is taking place in Viana-do-Castelo in Portugal from May 25 to 27.
“We are very pleased to see Madeline representing Canada at this major marathon event,” said Darryl Bohm, member of the Canoe Marathon Racing Council at Canoe Kayak Canada. “Maddy finished 4that the 2017 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships and we will be cheering for her to do well at this event”.
Mitchell will be racing on Saturday, May 26 in the Women’s C1 short event on a distance of 3.6 km as well as on Sunday, May 27 in the Women’s C1 15.4 km. The short event will include three laps and three portages while the long event will include four laps, three portages and one small lap.
