GAINESVILLE, GEORGIA, USA (April 19, 2018) – Canoe Kayak Canada’s fastest sprint and paracanoe paddlers will be lining up for the first set of the National Team Trials this weekend on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia. This first selection of a series of three Sprint National Team Trials will take place at the 1996 Olympic venue from Friday, April 20th to Sunday, April 22nd.

“Most of our Sprint and Paracanoe athletes spent the last few months training in the warm waters of Florida in order to get ready for this first team selection,” said Graham Barton, Chief Technical Officer at Canoe Kayak Canada. “They had some great results in training and now it is time to test that preparation in their first races of the year.”

Canoe Kayak Canada will be selecting athletes to compete at the 2018 Canoe Sprint World Cups taking place in Europe at the end of May. These National Team Trials will also be used as part of the selection process for the Senior, U23 and Junior World Championships Teams and the Senior Pan American Championships Team.
