Quinton took up kayaking about 4 years ago and was instantly hooked on the sport. He was enrolled in the Ottawa Kayak School Keener program at Wilderness Tours. There he learnt the fundamentals of kayaking and respect for the river and other paddlers. He loves to surf the biggest waves he can find like Mini Bus, Big Bus and Gladiator, all found on the Ottawa River. For the last 2 years, he competed in the Ottawa XL trying to earn a spot to participate in the Whitewater Grand Prix. This event showcases the extreme side of kayaking which has kayakers compete on high volume rivers and steep creeks of Ontario and Quebec in Spring flood waters. This past Spring, he found himself tied in 4th and giving him a spot to compete in the Grand Prix in 2016 along side many of his idols in the sport.

Quinton took first place in this years Canada Cup taking the title of Top Canadian Junior and is fired up to compete at the 2015 World’s Freestyle Kayaking on his home water, the Ottawa River. He is also excited to have his younger brother Kalem to cheer on as he also earned a spot on the Junior Canadian Team. The next year will be focused on training for World’s and finding some creeks to run also thinking ahead to the Grand Prix
