Sydney was first introduced to kayaking at 12 years old and grew up paddling on her home river, the Elora Gorge. She quickly graduated to paddling the Ottawa river has spent more and more of her time paddling it. She has worked at the Ottawa Kayak School as an instructor over the summers.
