In 2009 she competed in the Senior World Championships in her hometown of Dartmouth on Lake Banook. In 2011 she won a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Since then, Una has competed for Canada at many World Cups and World Championships.

She considers wearing the maple leaf an honour and a privilege and it is and always has been her dream to compete for Canada at the Olympic Games. Una is an RBC Olympian, and spends a lot of her time at home speaking at schools about her experience. She graduated with a degree in English language and literature at Mount Saint-Vincent University.

When not paddling, she loves spend time in the kitchen, reading, writing, knitting, and drinking coffee.
